Protest Against Deteriorated Roads in Belghat Enters Ninth Day

The protest against the dilapidated roads in the Belghat area continued for the ninth consecutive day under the leadership of social activist Colonel Rajendra Yadav. This indefinite protest, organized under the banner of the Sarvjan Awaaz Party, is receiving overwhelming support from local residents. Demonstrators symbolically protested against the government by drawing a lotus flower on the road.

On October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Colonel Yadav hoisted the flag and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Following this, protesters marched through Shankarpur market, demanding the immediate repair of broken roads. The protest saw participation from women, children, the elderly, and local representatives.

Protesters voiced their concerns, citing multiple accidents due to the poor road conditions, which have created significant challenges in daily life. Schoolchildren complained about how their bags fall into the mud while cycling to school, disrupting their studies. Locals expressed that if given a chance to become Chief Minister or District Magistrate for a day, they would prioritize fixing the roads.

Former village head Arun Kumar Dubey, who joined the protest, highlighted that most roads in the area, such as those from Belghat to Shahpur, Tikuliya, Mahuliya, and Sikrigunj, are completely broken. Despite repeated promises from the government, no concrete action has been taken.

Colonel Rajendra Yadav stated that Gandhiji’s principle of Satyagraha is the most powerful weapon in a democracy, and they will continue their protest following this principle. He urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to fulfill his promise of making all roads pothole-free by October 15, ensuring that people are relieved of this issue as soon as possible.

The protesters made it clear that they would not end their protest until road repairs begin.
