A shocking incident took place in the Belghat area of Gorakhpur on Sunday night, where 31-year-old Abhishek Singh, also known as Chanchal Singh, was shot dead. The incident occurred near Sopai village in the Belghat police station area, creating panic in the region.
Abhishek Singh had gone to a wedding ceremony in Singhdia, Gorakhpur, along with some people from his village. During the wedding, he had an argument with a few other youths, which escalated further while returning home. Around 1:30 AM near Sopai village, the dispute took a violent turn, and Abhishek was shot by a group of youths.
The assailants dumped the seriously injured Abhishek outside the village. Upon discovering him, the villagers immediately rushed him to the Belghat Community Health Center, where doctors declared him dead.
Abhishek’s family has accused three individuals from the same village of being involved in his murder. It is reported that on February 15, Abhishek had a heated argument with another young man from the village, which led to further tensions.
The police have registered a case against the suspects. Abhishek’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and authorities are analyzing his call records and location details. CCTV footage from the wedding venue and surrounding areas is also being examined.
SP South Jitendra Kumar Tomar stated that one of the three accused has been arrested, while efforts are underway to locate the other two. The crime branch has also been involved to expedite the investigation and ensure a quick resolution.
The incident has caused panic and outrage among the villagers. Abhishek’s family is in deep mourning and is demanding the immediate arrest of all those responsible. Local residents claim that the main suspect already has multiple criminal cases filed against him, and people in the area have long been fearful of him.
Police officials have assured that the case will be solved soon, and all accused will be brought to justice.
